Cognitive Behaviour Therapy

joyce barwiss rcc cbt circleThis short-term treatment helps you deal with difficult situations by taking a practical approach to problem-solving. It helps you explore how your thoughts, feelings and actions influence each other. With that understanding you can change your thinking patterns and create the right conditions to relieve the distress in your life.

Then we focus on setting small, achievable goals that help you modify your behaviour by making gradual changes that lead to measurable results so that you can see positive progress.

In small, gentle steps, CBT can help you deal with the feeling of being out of control through fear, worry, or as a result of traumatic events. You learn practical life skills that will help you for the rest of your life.

Since the relationship between you and your therapist is a critical factor in the positive outcome of therapy, I offer a fifteen-minute, free, in-person meeting to answer any questions you may have and to see if we fit together. It not, that’s OK too. I can refer to other practitioners.
